Infighting lead to ruins,

Misplaced strength and courage can

only lead to the dearth of our nation.

It has therefore

been said quite

truly that a man

grows with the

greatness of

his task. But he

must have within

himself, that

capacity to grow;

otherwise, even

the most difficult

task is of no

benefit to him.

More likely he

will be shattered

by it...

The world is a big narrative in which my identity is constantly being shaped.

Within that grand narrative, my work is my expression of new processes and ideas moving forward.

Images in my work take form from layers of drawing, erasing and painting over;

recording negotiations between me and my immediate vicinity, the old and the new,

the representational and the abstract.

Out of this confluence of everything is a new equilibrium, my picture.

I aim to capture an emotional truth with my pictures,

it is like catching a cloud; it is real yet elusive.

Serpents in the Sun is about the struggle with our nature, which can
enable the most positive outcome from the many junctures of potential in our world.
Will we succeed in overcoming our nature or fall victim to random forces?

Portraiture

I aim to make portraits that reach beyond the likeness of a person,
In doing so, I gather the sense of being around the person or the people portrayed.
This involves carefully crafting a strategy to render and contain each portrait so
that it yields as much intimacy as possible.
